Here’s the latest from Shannon and Goeff Husa

Sunday, July 05, 2009 8:51 PM, Papua New Guinea – This last week I started a new schedule where I go down to Mibu on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Tuesdays Geoff and Joey have a teachers’ meeting for the next weeks lesson so I sat in on that with my language helper.  It was really neat to see how those are done and to be a part of the discussion.  Of course I didn’t understand all of it but that is where my language helper came in handy.  It was also really great to get out of the house for a bit and nice that Shiloh is willing and able to watch the girls so that I can!!

Friday was Shiloh’s birthday.  She is now 13!!  I can’t believe she is already a teenager.  I’m sure her parents are even more amazed than we are.  They had us over for dinner and then we had cake and watched her open her presents.  Geoff made her a miniature wardrobe for all of her baby doll clothes.  It turned out really beautiful and she likes it a lot.

Saturday morning we got out the slip n slide and this time I even gave it a try.  The Tart’s kids came over too and we had a lot of fun.  It got pretty muddy so we all had to hose off before going in the house though.  Then that evening we had them over for hamburgers and Geoff built up a huge bonfire in our yard.  He had found sparklers in town so the kids played with those and we roasted marshmallows in the fire and made smores.  It had rained a bit that day, but it was dry for all of our outdoor activities that day.  It was a really fun weekend.

Most of you may not know but I am a huge klutz!!  It usually doesn’t involve me injuring myself, just dropping lots of things.  However, on Saturday I was cooking and turned toward the stove and kicked my right foot against my left foot and heard one of my toes crack.  It hurt pretty bad but wasn’t excruciating.  It hurt most of the evening and after our company had gone home I took a look at it and my 4th toe was swollen and purple.  Geoff thinks it is probably broken, though I can move it a bit without pain.  I can hardly even remember what I did to cause it and I know I couldn’t reenact it even if I tried!!!  What a dumb thing to do.  And whoever hurts one of their middle toes??

We all have colds again (just had the same exact thing when we were in town last month!) and because Maddie is so runny and her hair is always caked to her snot I finally gave in and cut her some bangs.  I really didn’t want to have to do that, but she looks really cute.  I will attach a picture of her so you can see for yourselves.  I’m sure she is so much happier with her hair out of her face.

Well that was our week.  Hope you all are well and had a great 4th of July weekend!!
