The Colosseum

I still cannot comprehend how the Romans (or their slaves) built the Colosseum nearly 2,000 years ago.  It’s massive even by today’s standards, estimated to seat 50,000 to 80,000 spectators.  It’s difficult to capture the size and wonder of this magnificent structure in a photograph.

Arrived in Rome

We arrived in Rome around 9am local time (3 am Detroit time). The Ambasciatori Palace hotel is nice, and in the old section of Rome. Over the next few days we’ll tour the Vatican and will see the Colosseum, among other sites. It’s slow to update…
