{"id":1547,"date":"2012-02-04T16:40:06","date_gmt":"2012-02-04T21:40:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/192.168.50.23\/wordpress\/blog\/?p=1547"},"modified":"2018-04-07T16:37:51","modified_gmt":"2018-04-07T20:37:51","slug":"winter-riding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forths.com\/index.php\/2012\/02\/04\/winter-riding\/","title":{"rendered":"Winter Riding"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With a very un-February temperature of 39 degrees in Alden, the sun shining and most of the snow melted, I decided to take the little Honda CB175 out for a Winter ride. \u00a0I retrieved the battery from the basement, where it was connected to a float charger, and put it back in the bike. \u00a0The bike started right up. \u00a0I grabbed\u00a0the new gloves that Al bought for me, and off I went.<\/p>\n<p>I rode the bike to the gas station to top it off with fresh fuel, then put 20 miles on the clock while riding around the back roads. \u00a0I stopped at the boat launch in Alden for these pictures. \u00a0I kept the speeds down, since the tires aren&#8217;t as grippy when they&#8217;re cold, but I did cruise the straight roads at around 60. \u00a0It really felt great to be on a bike again.<\/p>\n<p>Sunday morning, with the thermometer at 32 degrees, I hopped back on the Honda and rode to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.visitalden.com\/restaurants\/wildonion.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wild Onion in Alden<\/a> for breakfast. \u00a0It&#8217;s funny how many people will stop me and ask about the bike &#8230;
