A week ago, after learning that I’d be down-state this weekend, Al suggested that we take our bikes to the Gibraltar Trade Center for the “Blessing of the Bikes” event. I’d never heard of this before, but in a nutshell, bikers gather, eat hot dogs, and a priest blesses the bikes, people look at all the other bikes, then you leave.
I had never seen so many motorcycles in one place. The event announcer said that 1129 motorcycles were in attendance. From what I could tell, almost all of them were Harley Davidsons. I looked at about half of the motorcycles and counted just 4 Triumphs, including mine. I was undoubtedly in the minority.
The weather was nice, the hot dogs were good, and the bikes were interesting. Good fun all around.
Kevin and I had a great time at the “Blessing Of The Bikes”. The weather was good and the crowd was great. We enjoyed some hot dogs and the music was Ok. Only problem was they were not playing any “Doo Wop” or “Dean Martin”. They gave out raffle tickets and out of the 1129 tickets my ticket number came up and I won a brand new helmet with the flip up visor. Got lucky. Glad you brought your bike home Kevin. It looks good and runs great. The new bike jacket and gloves Debbie got you for your birthday topped it off. Now all you need is to get her on the back of the bike for some cruising. Thanks again for coming with me, I had fun and enjoyed your company.
(Next is Bike Show/Swap Meet. June 24th Noon till 5:30. Little Mack between 12 & 13 mile rd.)
I got too much sun, walking around without my helmet on. I should have brought a baseball cap.
Maybe next year I’ll bring the ’65 Honda, just to really confuse the Harley guys.
