Several years ago, Ken was kind enough to make an excellent wood duck house for me to hang near the lake. It’s nicely built, and has a nice bed of cedar shavings for the wood ducks to use for nesting material. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a wood duck before, but their range is throughout the entire state. A picture of a wood duck is below, in case you’re curious.
The wood duck house now hangs about 7 feet in the air and faces south, per the instructions. We’ll see if any wood ducks move in. I’ll position my motion-detecting camera trap nearby to capture any attempts. Also, our friend ‘Woody’, pictured below, will keep an eye on the wood duck house for us.
