Getting Settled in the Mountains

This week Nicki settled in to her new apartment in Tennessee.  Our hotel is an hour away, in Williamsburg, Kentucky, but we needed to use a “pet friendly” hotel, which limited our options.

Yesterday we toured the Lincoln Memorial University campus, and spent some time at the DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine, where Nicki will be taking her courses.  On Friday she starts Gross Anatomy, where she’ll be cutting up a male and female cadaver.  Sound like fun?  The campus is pretty, nestled in the mountains.

Across the border in Kentucky, Deb liked how the “Ryan’s” restaurant was across from the “Krystal” restaurant.  Ryan’s is a family buffet and Krystal is the local version of White Castle, offering little slider-style hamburgers in boxes.  If you’ve had a White Castle burger, you’ve had a Krystal burger.

Tomorrow we’ll head to Knoxville for some tourist fun.

  1. Love the Ryan and Krystal item…………….maybe they can visit sometime and have a photo taken in front of the signs. The campus really looks nice…………….still getting over the ‘cutting-the-cadaver’ thing on Friday!!!! It seemed so unusual to see Enzo on a leash. Do keep in touch. We are SO glad to hear you are all having a good time!

  2. THE PICTURES LOOK GREAT. THE VIEWS OF THE MOUNTAIN’S AND WATERFALL IN THE PARK ARE AWESOME TOO … SO HAPPY FOR NICKI TO START HER NEW BEGINNING IN HER MEDICAL JOURNEY TO HER FUTURE. GOD BLESS HER.
